Description:
Thermal management is a critical industrial challenge that is directly linked to manufacturing output quality and optimal product performance in various applications. For example, complex heating and cooling systems are required for forming tools to reach and maintain the required process temperature. Nevertheless, current designs are not leveraging the full potential of new fabrication techniques such as additive manufacturing. Conformal cooling, where organically shaped channels follow the geometry of the part, is an active field of research. While conformal cooling provides an excellent solution to improve cooling spatial resolution and provide custom temperature distribution, it still cannot address important transient behaviors. The goal of the Project is to explore a new high-potential technology that allows spatio-temporal resolved cooling and could shift manufacturing paradigms: active cooling
