Description:
Project Description Summary: For electrochemical CO2 conversion technologies to become a reality for achieving meaningful emissions reductions, new materials innovations are required. To this end, identifying the structure and properties of materials during electrochemical CO2 conversion is crucial for understanding the factors governing performance and accelerating the discovery of improved catalysts and electrodes. Development and implementation of in situ/operando characterization techniques is central to this goal. There is no perfect operando characterization technique to provide insight into all properties governing a material’s performance. The unique aspect of this Project is the holistic approach to develop correlative operando spectroscopy and microscopy techniques to enable a comprehensive understanding of materials that drive sustainable energy conversion processes.
