Title:
Efficient 3D Spatial Query Processing for Geospatial Analytics towards Sustainable Smart Citites
Agreement Number:
1013456
Agreement Value:
$392,700.00
Agreement Date:
Jan 1, 2024 - Mar 31, 2026
Description:
With the rapid growth of population in cities, the associated complexities and
challenges due to the accelerated demand for basic services such as
housing, transportation, healthcare and employment are also rising. This
increased urban expansion exerts pressure on the natural resources and
contributes to the greenhouse gas emission. Digital technologies, particularly,
smart cities can help in addressing many of these challenges related to urban
growth. Geospatial analytics and 3D spatial query processing techniques will
be key enabler for the smart cities technologies. However, the existing spatial
data systems, specifically, relational database systems (RDBMS), cannot
meet the requirements for complex 3D spatial data analytics. Therefore,
through this project the collaborative research team will aim to develop novel
techniques for a new generation of spatial data systems that can address the
challenges of smart cities. The team will investigate how to develop
techniques for efficient storage and retrieval of 3D spatial data, explore novel
spatio-visual queries and investigate privacy preserving query processing approaches.
