Title:
Cellulose Nanomaterial Production and by-catch Harvest Research
Agreement Number:
1018389
Agreement Value:
$200,000.00
Agreement Date:
Apr 1, 2024 - Mar 30, 2026
Description:
The project includes 3 phases 1. Harvesting tunicate by-catch from blue mussel aquaculture and processing the biomass into a consistent semi dry pulp like material. 2. Extracting cellulose from the "Tunicate pulp" . 3 Processing the tunicate cellulose into nano materials which will be a commercial products for sale. These included cellulose nano fibrals and nano crystals. The process was demonstrated at the "research bench" level by Dr. Matthew Dunlop while developing his PhD thesis with 100 Kg of Cellulose Nano Crystals being made. Tunistrong is currently scaling the initial process into a commercially viable pilot manufacturing process.
