Description:

Phase 2B scope will expand on the preliminary model framework for onshore wind energy and Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) developed in Phases 1 and 2A. Phase 2B will expand MESO to include real-time data integration, offshore wind energy and additional energy storage technologies, specifically; Diabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage (DCAES), Pumped Hydro Storage, Hydrogen and Battery storage. Two key focus areas in phase 2B include: • Offshore Wind Energy: Extend analysis capabilities to offshore wind projects, including transmission infrastructure and sourcing offshore wind speed data. • Energy Storage: Expand the model to evaluate a larger variety of renewable energy storage technologies.
