Description:
Three studies will be conducted; study 1 is a pilot that aims to de-risk studies 2 and 3 by validating a novel monitoring tool, the IAD-ITD-M, for nurses to assess and track moisture-associated skin damage (MASD) caused by incontinence, distinguishing it from other conditions. Studies 2 and 3 evaluate the safety and efficacy of a proprietary cream (DermaShield) – containing a natural plant extract - in treating MASD from diarrhea or fecal incontinence, hypothesizing improved healing compared to the standard of care.
