Title:
Instrumentation System for Monitoring Wear of Polymer Lined Slurry Pipe
Agreement Number:
1020457
Agreement Value:
$300,000.00
Agreement Date:
Jul 15, 2024 - Mar 31, 2026
Description:
Polymer (Urethane and Rubber) Lined pipe spools are used in Slurry Transport trains where erosion and corrosion of Carbon Steel pipe spools is excessive. Maintenance (rotation) and replacement of Polymer Lined pipe spools can be substantively improved with predictive and prescriptive maintenance management informed by monitoring the remaining lining thickness with sensors mounted inside the steel shell. Three sensor technologies will be investigated for suitability to provide remaining thickness in the operating environment of payload and environment temperatures.
