Grants and Contributions:

Identify and address major issues of importance to science and society; facilitate interaction among scientists across all disciplines and from all countries; promote the participation of all scientists – regardless of race, citizenship, language, political stance, or gender – in the international scientific endeavour; provide independent, authoritative advice to stimulate constructive dialogue between the scientific community and governments, civil society and the private sector; and provide access to and participate in international industrial research and commercialization.

NRC maintains, on behalf of the government of Canada, memberships in the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology/Division of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPST/DLMPST) and its scientific unions, which promotes international scientific activity. Canada’s involvement in international science and technology organizations promotes international market-oriented research and innovation, networking, advocacy, leadership and benchmarking opportunities as well as access to research and benchmarking possibilities, enabling Canadian science, technology, and industry to remain competitive.
