Description:
Rising Tide BioAcoustics is developing a system to reduce the underwater noise produced by ships. This Active Noise Cancellation system (ANC) cancels/absorbs the very low frequency (VLF) sound produced by the propellor and power/propulsion system that is the most damaging to the marine environment. A secondary benefit is the reduction of ship hull fouling which will decrease fuel/energy consumption as well as the transfer of invasive species.
