Title:
Assessment of productivity, carbon emission reduction potential and performance of building-integrated photovoltaic/thermal systems (BIPV and BIPV/T)
Agreement Number:
1032669
Agreement Value:
$50,000.00
Agreement Date:
Jun 24, 2025 - Jan 31, 2027
Description:
This project will examine the key performance factors of building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products and review the state of the art in relevant technical standards and testing requirements. This is a sub-project of a larger two-phase initiative entitled “Multifunctional, Prefabricated, Energy-Positive and Climate-Resilient Building Envelope Systems,” led by researchers at Concordia University and supported by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund. The overall objective is to develop innovative, multifunctional, prefabricated, energy-positive building envelope systems. These systems will integrate improved thermal performance, daylight control, and on-site electricity and heat generation. One of the main goals is to create standardized, cost-effective solutions for integrating BIPV systems into buildings.
Organization:
National Research Council Canada
Expected Results:
In the short term, anticipated outcomes will be strengthened collaborations across industry, academia, and government to support research excellence. In the medium term, anticipated outcomes will be the development of new and potentially disruptive technologies with collaborators. In the long term, find collaborative solutions to public policy challenges and create stronger innovation systems.
