Agreement Value:
$50,000.00
Agreement Date:
Jan 7, 2026 - Oct 31, 2027
Description:
This project forms a subcomponent of the SEED Living Lab located in the West 5 and EVE Park communities of London, Ontario. It aims to test, refine, and accelerate neighbourhood‑scale pathways to electrification and decarbonization. In partnership with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), Concordia University leads the deployment of a smart energy system integrating photovoltaic panels, heat pumps, microgrids, and energy storage technologies to assess technical performance, affordability, and community acceptance. Through the use of digital twins and data‑driven modelling, the project will evaluate gains in energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and system resilience. Expected outcomes include the development of retrofit strategies and policy recommendations to support the design and large‑scale implementation of low‑carbon communities across Canada. The NRC contributes to tool development and code harmonization, while Concordia provides performance data, calibrated models, and stakeholder insights.
