Description:

The firm is developing “Bird Song IoT”, an AI-powered environmental monitoring system that detects Bank Swallows (Riparia Riparia), a threatened species under the Species at Risk Act, in real-time at mining operations. The system combines edge AI models, IoT hardware, and cloud infrastructure to provide early warnings when protected species are present, enabling proactive compliance with environmental regulations. This project will advance the AI model accuracy, complete IoT device development including power management and LTE communications and finalize the cloud monitoring platform. Field trials are planned for spring/summer at a mining site.
