Description:
The European elm scale, Gossyparia spuria (EES) is an introduced soft scale insect that attacks a variety of elm trees in Lethbridge, Alberta and other prairie cities. TreeAzin® Systemic Insecticide is effective against EES and is registered for this use in Canada. In this project, two recently developed, ready-to-use, azadirachtin- based (1.5% and 3% emulsifiable concentrates) systemic formulations will be field tested on elms infested with EES in Lethbridge, Alberta. The efficacy towards insects, formulation translocation and persistence will be evaluated alongside the current TreeAzin product as the benchmark. The goal is to select the best EC (1.5% or 3%) formulation and dose for commercialization.
