Description:

NRC provides contribution funding for the operation, mantenance and enhancement of the Facility. The TRIUMF facility houses a particle accelerator, reffered to as a cyclotron, that produces beams of mesons and other particles used by Canadian and foreign researchers for fundamental research in subatomic physics.

Immediate Outcomes: Global scientists and students have access to and use of TRIUMF facilities and Canadian researchers have reciprocal access to International facilities. Canadian scientists and engineers hare highly valued in subactomic physics research in the areas of nuclear and particle physics nuclear medicine, materials science and accelerator science and technology. Canadian companies working with TRIUMF to generate economic outputs and expand their exports.

Intermediate Outcomes: Canadian scientists and researchers participate in and contribute to the worldwide network of subatomic physics facilities located in major countries of the industrialized world. New knowledge and discoveries arise from international research collaborations and partnerships.
