Title:
Ultra-high Quality Factor MEMS for Low Frequency Acceleration Sensing
Agreement Number:
967228
Agreement Value:
$25,000.00
Agreement Date:
Mar 11, 2021 - Sep 30, 2022
Description:
St-Gelais lab at uOttawa will be reponsible for fabricating ultra-low dissipation micromechanical resonators to be tested as traceable accelerometers for monitoring of low frequency seismic events. These resonators will be co-designed together with the Mass and Related Quantities team at NRC. St-Gelais lab will also design and fabricate the optical interferometer for traceable interrogation of these accelerometers. Custom vacuum packaging with optical and electrical feedthrough will also be performed by St-Gelais lab.

Program:
Collaborative Science, Technology and Innovation Program – Ideation Fund
Program Purpose:
The Ideation Fund is intended to encourage, test and validate transformative research ideas generated by teams of NRC scientific personnel and external collaborators with complementary capabilities, acting as a demonstration phase for a continually-evolving suite of research and development (R&D) deliverables at the NRC. The fund supports exploratory research through two mechanisms: the New Beginnings Initiative and the Small Teams Initiative.
