Description:
Quantum Cluster States are a fundamental resource for quantum information processing. Different cluster states can be used for universal quantum computing, quantum repeaters and quantum sensing. While the generation of those states has been proved to be remarkably hard, recent developments in the manipulation of so-called Quantum Dots (QD) allow for completely new directions in the generation of photonic cluster states. Single QDs can be used to deterministically generate a few types of arbitrarily large cluster states, which can be fused together via linear optical circuits to generate larger and arbitrarily complex states. The successful outcome of the Project will have massive implications on the development of future quantum technologies, and in particular in the development of the future quantum internet.
Organization:
National Research Council Canada
Expected Results:
In the short term, anticipated outcomes will be strengthened collaborations across industry, academia, and government to support research excellence. In the medium term, anticipated outcomes will be the development of new and potentially disruptive technologies with collaborators. In the long term, find collaborative solutions to public policy challenges and create stronger innovation systems.
