Title:
Thermal Paint Development
Agreement Number:
999892
Agreement Value:
$64,880.00
Agreement Date:
Jan 3, 2023 - Jul 31, 2023
Description:
Target shooting training has evolved greatly in last decade, using thermal detection for the target hits is the new norm. But steel has some inherent issues with thermal detection. The steel is unrecognizable using thermal devices as the it reaches thermal equilibrium rapidly with its surrounding leaving little detection possibilities through any known thermal device hence no current way to engage steel targets for thermal weapons.
A thermal signature enabled target made up with steel would be a revolutionary change in the industry. This can be achieved by coating the steel target with a customized layer of material that has reflectance in thermal (infra range) so that it is detectable even in the dark using thermal weapon device.
The project's objective is to develop and test a Thermal Paint that acts as an image intensifier under the use of Thermal Devices. Future variations of this paint may have applications in defense, & search & rescue.
