Title:
Feasibility of long cane blackberry production and propagation under high tunnels
Agreement Number:
1007789
Agreement Value:
$74,823.00
Agreement Date:
Jun 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024
Description:
This project will evaluate the feasibility of growing long cane blackberries under high tunnels. We will assess the yield and varietal attributes of 2 blackberry varieties; Chester, and Triple Crown, and a new raspberry cultivar "Noelia". We will also develop a propagation protocol for growing 4 different blackberry varieties; Caddo, Ponca, Von, and Columbia Star. We will record 'Growing Degree Hours' which will be used in subsequent years to better plan planting dates so that harvest can coincide with peak market demand, and to benchmark propagation tasks and milestones.
