Description:

The primary aim of our proposed project is twofold. Firstly, it seeks to conduct a comprehensive analysis of housing availability within the region, given the scarcity of pertinent data. Collaborating closely with Local Housing entities, Housing NWT, Inuvialuit Development Corporation, and Gwich’in Development Corporation, and private enterprises. This collaborative effort aims to ascertain the accessibility of affordable housing within the locale. Secondly, we intend to establish a compact manufacturing facility for air-dried Aircrete, a lightweight and environmentally friendly construction material. The purpose is to evaluate the material’s properties when locally produced, thus contributing to sustainable housing solutions for the community.

In the short term, anticipated outcomes will be strengthened collaborations across industry, academia, and government to support research excellence. In the medium term, anticipated outcomes will be the development of new and potentially disruptive technologies with collaborators.
