Acadian Seaplants Limited is now the largest producer of cultivated Dulse globally. Previous IRAP contributions have been crucial to the technical advances achieved in the last two-three years including advances in strain selection/development, productivity improvement, contamination control and prevention, and scale up. To ensure consistent quality and profitability, key challenges need to be addressed such as energy cost reduction, adaptation to morphological changes during harvesting and processing, and finished goods quality/food safety preservation during storage.
