Program Purpose:

The objective of the FRI is to support NRCan's goal of sustainable natural resources development by harnessing innovation and technology through sectoral public/private partnerships to advance the competitiveness of the forest sector. More specifically, priorities include: enhancing productivity; reducing costs of production; maintaining and improving market access; growing opportunities for value added products; cutting energy consumption while advancing non-fossil fuel options (eg: biomass); and improving environmental performance through new processes and technologies.
