Description:
The purpose of this Project is to use aerial and ground survey and control techniques to detect, assess, monitor, delimit and control Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) populations, tree damage as well as areas at risk of infestations in forests under jurisdiction of the Government of Alberta, and forests adjacent to its border with Saskatchewan.

The Project is expected to: Enhance job security, as well as general safety and security of people who live in rural and remote communities in Alberta, and other provinces eastward and whose employment, health, safety, and economic well-being depend on healthy forest ecosystems. Benefit the environment by protecting wildlife habitat and biodiversity. Help mitigate effects of climate change through enhanced carbon storage in forests. Generate knowledge and innovative management techniques through research on MPB.
