Agreement Date:
Dec 18, 2019 - May 31, 2023
Description:
The objective of this Project is to improve the cybersecurity of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices and systems covering the electricity supply chain to help prevent, prepare, respond to, and recover from cyber threats. The Project aims at developing and implementing a consolidated set of bi-national (eventually globally accepted) standards, conformity assessment solutions, an evergreen repository of cybersafe certified IIoT devices, and detailed implementation guidance.
Organization:
Natural Resources Canada
Expected Results:
The Project focuses on IIoT devices. It will produce a consolidated series of bi-national cybersecurity standards for assessing the conformance of IIoT devices used in generation, transmission, and distribution systems in the North American electricity sector. The standards will address the full lifecycle of their deployment from vendor selection (i.e., supply chain), device qualification, and system integration to maintenance and decommissioning. An Advisory Committee will guide the Project. A publicly accessible repository of certified IIoT devices against the standards will be created.
