Title:
Tracking critical metals in felsic igneous systems: Tools and Applications
Agreement Number:
GC-130022S
Agreement Value:
$85,251.00
Agreement Date:
Sep 8, 2021 - Mar 31, 2023
Description:
This project will (1) generate data on mineral/melt partitioning of a large number of elements, including critical metals, which can be used to develop quantitative models of crystallization and provide the basis for new understanding of how mineral enrichment occurs, and (2) measure the composition of these elements in a suite of minerals from a mineralised magmatic system (Davis Lake Pluton, Nova Scotia) that will be used to track melt composition, temperature and redox state in detail and to test the observed behaviour against quantitative models of crystallization.
Organization:
Natural Resources Canada
Expected Results:

TGI public geoscience knowledge and new methodologies relevant to the discovery of new Canadian mineral resources is made available and industry and other stakeholder groups.

Program:
Targeted Geoscience Initiative
Program Purpose:

Targeted Geoscience Initiative will continue to address significant public geoscience gaps by expanding the industry toolkit for exploration, with further innovative geoscience tools, exploration models and new techniques to more efficiently and effectively detect the presence of buried mineral deposits that will provide better returns on private sector investments.
