Grants and Contributions:
"The Project will improve public understanding of and response to EEW systems through innovative research and development, resulting in: • Knowledge of how the concepts of earthquake magnitude and intensity are understood by the public • A historical case study that will highlight the development and especially the meanings of earthquake magnitude and intensity for educational use • Development of evidence-based practices to inform alerting strategies for the general public, and to provide early interventions in schools and university-based curriculum, addressing the notions of earthquake magnitude and intensity and how to react in the case of an EEW alert"
Grant or contribution awarded and spanning more than one fiscal year.
To develop a broader based and more robust national earthquake early warning system which incentivizes multiple stakeholders to provide early warning coverage over maximum areas of high seismic risk beyond the federally critical infrastructure covered by the core early warning system.
