Grants and Contributions:
The Proponent will deliver a series of four (4) IDP charrettes per year, over three (3) years, using a virtual platform where Building Officials will work collaboratively with a team of experts on an actual building design (subject to availability of an appropriate project) or a building archetype simulated design, to develop solutions that demonstrate how to achieve the various levels of energy performance (focusing on the higher tiers). The charrettes will include training on the new codes for Part 3 buildings (commercial, institutional, and multi-unit residential) and Part 9 houses, through local subject matter expert (SME) led presentations, collaborative solutions development, and energy modelling. Participants will learn how to combine design and technology solutions in a manner that meets the energy performance requirements. Intrinsic in this activity is the application of "real-world" solutions, including costing estimates, and reference resources.
Grant or contribution awarded and spanning more than one fiscal year.
The objective is to improve energy efficiency in Canada. Canadian energy users in the industrial, residential, commercial/institutional, and transportation sectors must have access to the information and qualified expertise required to make informed choices on energy consumption in the marketplace. Across all of these sectors, products that use energy and affect energy consumption will be a specific focus.
