Title:
Operationalization of innovative tools for tree species identification and determination of geographic origin
Agreement Number:
CWFC2324-001
Agreement Value:
$36,000.00
Agreement Date:
Oct 3, 2023 - Mar 31, 2024
Description:
Determine the utility of metabolomics profiling for the identification of native species of commercial interest using georeferenced material, and exotic species using xylarium specimens.
Organization:
Natural Resources Canada
Expected Results:

The research will enable Canada to evaluate whether branch samples can be used as reference samples and determine how GC×GC/MS compares to other chemical profiling method such as DART that requires mainly heartwood for analysis. This will also allow Canada to build a reference metabolomics database for commercial species in trade.
