Description:
The grant will support in financing the 2024 IEA Ministerial meeting, the related High-Level Dialogue event, and will also help ensuring that outcomes from the event build on and feed into existing and prospective IEA work. The IEA's Ministerial Meeting and related work are anticipated to align with Canada's international policy priority to ensure climate goals are underpinned by a workforce equipped with the skills and support required in a net-zero economy. The IEA will also develop a background document for this High-Level Dialogue that will be the basis to inform further work in this area to support Canada's preparations for its G7 Presidency in 2025.

Expected Results:

As Vice Chair of the 2024 IEA Ministerial, the grant will help advance Canadian policy priorities on people-centred energy transitions, through support for the organization and coordination of a Canada-led IEA Ministerial High-Level Dialogue, on Building a Prosperous & Inclusive Economy for the Future. The funds will also support linking outcomes from the 2024 IEA Ministerial with preparations for Canada's 2025 G7 Presidency to highlight the importance of inclusive and people-centred clean energy transitions, with a focus on the unique circumstances of marginalized and underrepresented groups and the skills, training and enabling conditions required for sustainable job creation and economic prosperity.
