Title:
AI-Driven Classification of Synoptic Weather Conditions Associated with Clusters of Lightning Ignited Fires in Canada
Agreement Number:
GC-130603S
Agreement Value:
$44,000.00
Agreement Date:
Nov 5, 2024 - Mar 31, 2025
Description:
The objective of this Project is to understand the association between synoptic weather conditions and groups of large lightning ignited fires by applying artificial intelligence. This objective aligns with the following departmental priorities from Theme I (“Understanding fire in a changing world”) found in the Blueprint for wildland fire science in Canada (2019-2029): 1) Develop national models of fire occurrence, 2) Understand large fire growth, and 3) Perform comprehensive assessments of fire and atmosphere relations.
Organization:
Natural Resources Canada
Expected Results:
Completion of a well-structured comprehensive dataset. Identified clusters and developed transformer and recurrent models; trained and optimized models; validated models with performance metrics.
