THE BRITISH COLUMBIA FOREST FIBRE ATLAS: INTEGRATING GROUND-TRUTH FIELD DATA WITH A PREDICTIVE BIOMASS MAPPING PLATFORM
Agreement Number:
SPARK2528-01
Agreement Value:
$750,000.00
Agreement Date:
Dec 19, 2025 - Mar 31, 2028
Description:
The objective of this project is to develop and launch the British Columbia Forest Fibre Atlas, a publicly accessible data platform to inform investment in the British Columbia forest sector.
Organization:
Natural Resources Canada
Expected Results:

The British Columbia Biomass Opportunity Atlas increases access to complex data. It provides a practical tool to create tangible, data-driven biomass feedstock information for local bio-energy projects, fostering economic self-determination. The Atlas drastically reduces upfront due diligence costs by providing a clear, consolidated view of residual biomass feedstock availability and validated logistics costs, and provides a powerful tool for evidence-based policy making, allowing leaders to model and quantify the impact of decisions on the regional bioeconomy.
