Description:
The objective of this project is to enhance the reliability, resiliency, and flexibility of the local electricity grid in Fort Frances, Ontario, through the deployment of smart grid devices and software to support automated grid operation and monitoring.

Expected Results:
The expected results will deploy a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system as well as fault indicators, switches, and a recloser to enable automated operation, real-time monitoring, and improved coordination of grid assets. These investments will improve outage response and system efficiency while preparing the grid for future energy demand. It will also establish a foundation for a community-wide microgrid capable of operating autonomously in island mode during grid outages.
