Description:
Under this project, the proponent will conduct a deep dive case study analysis of the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) impacts of Canadian LNG exports to the Republic of Korea. The proponent will assess the role of Canadian LNG in displacing Korean coal. The Proponent will also assess the costs and policy considerations of LNG and blue ammonia versus alternatives, particularly nuclear power and renewable power plus batteries.

Expected Results:

The proponent will produce a two-part analytical report using economic modeling, field research, literature reviews, and expert engagement to assess coal displacement pathways in Korea, comparing Canadian gas and clean fuels with LNG, renewables, and nuclear. ThepProponent will hold workshops and briefings, including a study group session and final presentations in Ottawa and British Columbia. The proponent will also prepare an executive summary or op-ed style publication to share findings with a broader audience and will amplify results through partner communications channels.
