Title:
Development of a Pilot-scale Supercritical-CO2 Brayton Cycle Demonstration Loop
Agreement Number:
CCSE037
Agreement Value:
$1,237,786.00
Agreement Date:
Mar 26, 2013 -
Description:
The objective of this Project is to construct a 50-250 kilowatt (kW) pilot-scale supercritical carbon dioxide (S-CO2) Brayton Cycle Demonstration Loop for coal-based electricity generation. This Project is part of a broader research program, conducted around the world, to develop next generation cleaner coal technology. The Brayton Cycle is one of the potential options being developed as a key, new component in next generation cleaner coal systems. Conceptually, next generation cleaner coal systems offer substantial system size reduction, lower capital and operating costs, and improvement in overall energy conversion efficiency relative to the current first generation fossil fuel technologies retrofitted with carbon capture and storage (CCS) systems
