Program Purpose:

The purpose of the project is to advance the use of metagenomics and related molecular approaches as tools to demonstrate forest ecosystem integrity in managed forests. Specifically, the project will focus on microbiota and invertebrate biodiversity, which play a key role on the ecosystem processes of decomposition and nutrient cycling, as an indicator of ecosystem integrity.
