Description:
The objective of this Project is to quantitatively evaluate the viability and effectiveness of side-channel-based assessment methods for risk management in the supply chain of the energy sector; specifically for assessing module integrity and for detecting tampering and counterfeits.

Expected Results:

The Proponent will perform a threat and risk assessment related to supply chain security of selected electronics modules used in the energy sector. This risk assessment will be executed in consultation with industry. Based on the assessment, the Proponent will select two modules for which to perform a quantitative evaluation of the reduction in cybersecurity risk when applying Palisade - an integrity-assessment technology developed by the Proponent and now under commercialization for the Canadian energy sector. The evaluation will include a statistical analysis guided by domain expertise and results from practical measurements on the two selected modules. Finally, the Proponent will prepare a report on the findings including recommendations with respect to supply chain security in the energy sector. The Proponent will make this report available to the public lecture at a mutually agreeable venue to present and discuss the results in public.
