Description:
The objective of the Project is to support the Recipient's bioenergy analysis and engagement efforts, providing technical and policy guidance relating to sustainable bioenergy particularly in emerging economies, with a specific focus on advanced biofuels. The proposed activities would support IEA's new role as Facilitator of the Biofuture Platform, a group of 20 countries (including Canada), seeking to accelerate transitions to the bioeconomy globally.

Expected Results:

This Project will be of great benefit to IEA member countries and priority countries under the Clean Energy Transitions Programme, as it will provide evidence-based analysis on the effectiveness of bioenergy policies. The Project will also facilitate the exchange and joint learning of best practices, lessons learned and experiences related to bioenergy, which will increase countries' understanding of the topic and allow for improved policy outcomes and deployment.

Across all of these sectors, products that use energy and affect energy consumption will be a specific focus.
