Grants and Contributions:
This project will be directly contributing to the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System (CWFIS) on the improvement of seasonal forecast, and will develop a forecast model for the fire season onset across Canada. This project will develop multiple time scales (14 days to above-annual) forecasts of fire conducive conditions, helping national and provincial agencies in making better-informed decisions regarding current season resources exchanges and above-annual (next season) pre-suppression investments

The purpose is to increase the resiliency of Canadian communities to the risks and impacts of natural disasters, and to undertake and implement risk reduction analyses and actions. To ensure that wildfire response agencies are integrated with each other in order to implement an effective wildland fire response program, and, to increase the wildfire knowledge of agencies, communities and individuals, in order to create a culture of wildfire safety and to empower the public to understand risk.
