The purpose of the Emissions Reduction Fund is to accelerate methane reductions and offset costs to assist oil and gas firms to adopt technologies and solutions to comply with or surpass federal emissions regulations or their provincial equivalents and provide economic stabilization through a challenging period for the industry. The Fund will also support the advancement of offshore emissions research, development and demonstration.
