Grants and Contributions:

Creating more awareness and understanding of minerals and metals in indigenous communities can contribute to ensuring the sustainable development of Canada mining and mineral resources, which benefits all Canadians. Engaging Economic Development Officers through mining webinars will build understanding amongst Indigenous communities of mineral exploration and mining activities and their capacity to participate in, and benefit from, economic development activities across the mineral development sequence, from exploration to mine closure and reclamation. Ultimately, this may lead to greater economic opportunities in the mining sector for Indienous communities and more partnerships and/or agreements with industry stakeholders.

To encourage and accelerate innovation via the dissemination of information; to maintain a sustainable and responsible development of Canada's natural resources via participation into engagement activities; to share best practices at home and abroad on clean, sustainable, efficient technologies and practices related to natural resources; and, to assist in the protection of our natural resources from pests, fire and other hazards.
