Description:
The objective of this Project is to address a gap in the technology currently used in the management and reporting of Wildfire weather in the Maritime provinces. New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia require improvements to enhance their weather reporting capabilities. The new system will enhance the quality of weather data, produce several tabular reports, maps, and implement GIS capabilities to inform the public and other agencies of current and forecast fire hazard, for days at a time. This technology will better increase the ability of agencies to better manage the risk associated with wildfires and other natural hazards.

Expected Results:
This Project will enhance and improve current fire weather management and reporting in the Maritime provinces. This Project will increase the ability to manage and share fire weather with external agencies and standardize weather reporting which will allow the maritime provinces to improve the process for providing public alerts and managing fire restrictions. This Project will enhance the response times and decision making for emergency management the Maritime Provinces, related to wildfires and other Environmental assessments.

To ensure that wildfire response agencies are integrated with each other in order to implement an effective wildland fire response program, and, to increase the wildfire knowledge of agencies, communities and individuals, in order to create a culture of wildfire safety and to empower the public to understand risk.
