The objective of the Project is to establish and pilot a home energy labelling initiative within Nunavut's developing sustainable energy framework to improve residential energy efficiency, reduce emissions, build capacity, and empower communities to connect with and understand their energy consumption.

• A pilot of virtual home labelling tools specific to Nunavut. • Nunavut-developed virtual assessments to accommodate current levels of energy literacy and to build off existing understanding Territorial Guidelines and Climate Resilience Indicators for virtual home assessments. • Education for residents on community energy plans and energy labelling. • Database creation of energy performance and resilience metrics to develop energy considerations for remote communities. • Engagement of communities through culturally appropriate outreach and education on energy efficiency. • Enhancement of the quality of life for northerners by providing information on household energy bills and ways to improve the comfort of homes in extreme climates. • Empowerment and support of Indigenous and remote communities by providing local training, employment and facilitating community-based retrofits. • Enablement of evidence-based policymaking and benchmarking across Canada by establishing a home energy labelling system which will create a data set on building performance in Northern conditions. • Job creation and capacity building in construction, energy assessment, and retrofit industries.
