Grants and Contributions:
Establish a first version Canadian Digital Core Library with protocols to connect with provincial and/or territorial databases to access and integrate scans of geological cores and related materials and make these available to stakeholders.
Grant or contribution awarded and spanning more than one fiscal year.
The Canadian Digital Core Library (CDCL) program will transform selected physical geological drill cores into digital data to be made available through a national-scale data platform that integrates the data that is owned by provinces and territories (PTs) and made accessible digitally to the public. The CDCL program will leverage the existing physical earth materials held publicly by geological surveys in Canada into digital data, integrated into a standards-based national platform so that new insights on mineral deposits and ore systems could be achieved.
