Program Purpose:
The objective of the project is to install a system for the recovery of biomethanol, a by-product of the kraft pulping process. The recovered methanol from the condensate stripping off gases stream will replace methanol that is currently being purchased to produce chlorine dioxide, used in the pulp bleaching process. The project will improve the mill efficiency and costs, and demonstrate the technology for the first time in Canada.
