Program Purpose:

The objective of the project is to commission the first engineered fibre mat (EFM) plant in Canada. Engineered Fibre Mats are composites made from crop and forest biomass for use in auto interiors, geotextiles and home insulation. The new plant will produce a variety of natural EFM products from aspen, spruce, pine and fir fibre residue that is currently being landfilled or burned as hog fuel.
