Program Purpose:

The objective of this Agreement with the IEA Clean Coal Centre is for Canada to gain valuable knowledge related to technologies for clean and efficient use of coal. This will allow the Canadian coal industry to develop and to grow while minimizing potential impacts on the environment. There are four main activities: 1. Power Generation - (e.g. impacts of climate change on power generation from fossil fuels). 2. Coal Markets - The main focus is on studies that look at the potential markets for usage of coal in different scenarios.. 3. Coal Conversion and Industrial use - This theme involves studies related to coal conversion (e.g. gasification) and different industrial coal usage. 4. Outreach and Dissemination
