Program Purpose:

Domtar Corporation is the largest integrated producer of uncoated free sheet paper in North America and the second largest in the world based on production capacity, and is also a manufacturer of paper grade pulp. Domtar wants to develop new products from new types of pulp called Surface Enhanced Pulp Fiber (SEPF) which they are developing and experimenting from new pulp treatment. At Innofibre laboratory, thick pulp sheets have been produced with a dynamic sheet former to evaluate strength and other pulp properties. The excellent results from the previous project using SEPF prompts us to continue the testing at another level closer to commercial production. The trials carried out on the experimental paper machine of Innofibre will assess the contribution of this kind of modified fibers in regular Domtar pulp grades. This will also help develop new innovative products. Innovative products and technology developed during this project will allow Domtar to ensure its competitiveness and leadership both in Quebec and in Canada and around the world.x000D
