Program Purpose:
The proposed research will evaluate the potential to use algae for water treatment. More specifically, we willx000D
investigate the removal of selected emerging contaminants such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and personalx000D
care products. These chemicals are widely distributed and threaten the health of human and ecosystems. Tox000D
eliminate them, advanced water treatment technologies can be used, but they are typically expensive tox000D
implement. This research focuses on a passive water treatment systems, based on algae, to remove selectedx000D
contaminants.
