Program Purpose:

According to the Alzheimer's Association of Canada, 25,000 Canadians are diagnosed with dementia annually,x000D
and 937,000 Canadians will be living with the disease in 15 years. According to the National Epidemiologicalx000D
Database for the Study of Autism in Canada (NEDSAC), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is one of the mostx000D
common developmental disabilities. In Canada, 1 in 94 children is diagnosed with ASD.x000D
Currently, there are conventional tracking devices in the market based on the GPS technology and Bluetooth.x000D
However their major limitations are geographical coverage, high cost to own and low battery life. Tox000D
overcome these problems, we propose to design and develop the WeTraq tracking device.x000D
WeTraq is designed to utilize the global WiFi network and GSM 2G/3G in addition to GPS to provide Globalx000D
coverage with precise location, low cost and battery life of up to 4 months by integrating several technicalx000D
aspects of Internet of Things (IoT) Technology.
