Researchers at the Thales Research and Technology (TRT) Quebec City research center require a functionalx000D
testbed for a radio signal identification and geolocation system. This system would entail multiple acquisitionx000D
stations, each equipped with an adaptive antenna array and a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) in orderx000D
to support software-defined radio (SDR) prototyping. The present proposal represents the first phase in thex000D
development of this testbed, and is based upon the expertise of Professor Roy and his team in adaptive antennax000D
arrays, SDR, and geolocation.x000D
Given the very ambitious scope of the proposed testbed, this initial 6-month phase will be limited to twox000D
aspects: 1- development, implementation on actual SDR hardware, and validation of an appropriate calibrationx000D
scheme for radio signal direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation based on smart antenna arrays; 2- developmentx000D
of a geolocation and RF signal identification algorithm in context based on software simulation alone.
