Recipient's Legal Name:
Kim, Keekyoung (The University of British Columbia)
Program:
Engage Plus Grants for Universities
Program Purpose:

The proposed research project is a partnership between researchers at the University of British Columbia, underx000D
the leadership of Dr. Keekyoung Kim, and engineers at 3D Currax Solutions Inc. in Kelowna, BC.x000D
The proposed research project will develop a new building plate to permanently fix a film between the printedx000D
part and the building plate. The new building plate with different fixing mechanisms will be designed,x000D
fabricated and tested. Such mechanisms include stretching and screwing, smart clamping, and specialty gluing.x000D
The best films and fixing mechanism will be combined for finding maximum printable weight and size.x000D
The 3D printing system being developed by 3D Currax will be capable of the first true mass-production, whichx000D
can potentially replace the conventional injection molding system and reduce the development time and cost ofx000D
products.
